  27. A1 it is your competitive advantage, a reason for a potential client to come to you and for an existing client to stay with you
  28. @QBOchat An offering a company offers to make it more attractive to clients. #QBOChat
  29. A1: A #valueproposition is what differentiates you from your competitors and shows the value that you offer to your customers. #QBOChat  https://twitter.com/QBOchat/status/910943322759450624
  30. A1: Value Prop is crucial – you convey value to both your client & their business #QBOchat
  31. Exactly! RT @schultetonya: @QBOchat An offering a company offers to make it more attractive to clients. #QBOChat
  32. @schultetonya I am good! I am finally over a stomach bug that hit me last Friday but I am almost positive it has turned itself into a cold ? #QBOChat
  33. @shultetonya I will keep bugging you, don’t worry! #qbochat
  34. @LayngAndLayng Great insight and description! Keeps the client aware of what makes a firm a peg above the rest. #qbochat
  35. A1: Value proposition is why you love us – what makes Circulus work for you is what makes us attractive for you! #qbochat
  36. A1: In the simplest of terms – why a customer should buy. #QBOchat
  37. @sharearefund What is your value proposition? (or anyone’s here?) #QBOchat
  38. My value prop: I offer fixed-price packages that include @ReceiptBank @QuickBooksCA and @Hubdoc in the price. #qbochat
  39. Q2: How do I use my value proposition to communicate to clients? #QBOchat https://t.co/ZDHzXky68R

Q2: How do I use my value proposition to communicate to clients? #QBOchat pic.twitter.com/ZDHzXky68R
  40. Great question! What is your firms value prop? RT @QBOchat: @sharearefund What is your value proposition? (or anyone’s here?) #QBOchat
  41. A2: Can you clarify the question? … Haha, foggy brain in Houston.
  42. A2: Use your value proposition to relate to your client’s pain points. Their pain was once yours. #qbochat
  43. A2 Find out what’s important to the client & then figure out how your service compliments their needs #qbochat
  44. @AmyWalkerCPA I think really its – how do you communicate the value you provide to your clients? #qbochat
  45. A2 Each value proposition needs to be tailored to the client… find the pain points and show how both of you can alleviate them
  46. @AmyWalkerCPA I think the answers from @ReceiptBank will help. We are pushing your thinking beyond the value prop, but how to use it in the firm. #QBOchat
  47. A2: Surveys, implementing new features according to the answers, clients’ suggestions and reviews #qbochat
  48. A2 Remember… we may bill out clients, but we need to work with them… think partnership
  49. Our value prop is that we are the absolute experts in our #construction niche. No one does it better than us. #QBOChat
  50. @AustinNexus You betcha!!! Have you seen pictures of it yet? We had our ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday for the building! #qbochat
  51. A2: Frequent communication. Show them that you know the details of their business. Be part of their support team. #qbochat
  52. @racbookkeeper I absolutely agree! You definitely want to showcase a partnership #qbochat
  53. Absolute communication is key! RT @AmyWalkerCPA: A2: Frequent communication. #qbochat
  54. @racbookkeeper That is probably the best value we can provide – to be a partner, not just another “yes, sir/ma’am” employee or vendor. #QBOchat
  55. A2: We try to find industry influencers in #construction and #roofing and work with them to address the needs in the industry. #QBOChat
  56. @vheckman We were literally just talking about you at our QBO certification class in Montana #QBOChat
  57. @schultetonya Great! We have so many partners that take advantage of their expertise within a particular niche. #qbochat.
  58. @vheckman We were bragging about your webinar you did for us on bank feeds #QBOChat
  59. A3. Our clients are all different, but they all have common needs. We can group clients into buckets then craft the right message. #qbochat
  60. Chatting with @receipts_bora when planning this chat, she really gets how firms can be using personas to help their marketing. #QBOchat
  61. A3: We have about 4-5 of these buckets, & use them to figure out how our product can compliment their needs #QBOchat
  62. A3: Personas can help you segment you audience so you can connect with them deeper and help with their specific pain points #qbochat
  63. Any of the accountants here familiar with personas? Have you thought about that in your business yet? #QBOchat
  64. A3: We use them to help identify what our clients find important and how to angle our value propositions towards them #qbochat
  65. A3- crucial to have clearly defined customer personas, in Ocrex we give them names like SME Sally & Accountant Adam #QBOchat
  66. @CirculusTech you are absolutely right! hit the nail on the head with your answer! #qbochat
  67. I love the nicknames! It really does bring to mind a specific persona type. @AutoEntry_OCREX #qbochat
  68. @AutoEntry_OCREX I had a client that did user research – one of their personas ended up being Chatty Cathy. No clue where they got that from! #QBOchat
  69. A3: A fictional person used to humanize a unique customer segment. Lets not forget our customers are people 🙂 #qbochat
  70. A3 personas help us know our customers better, tailor communication to fit the audience and stay organized. #QBOchat
  71. @JillShalett Hi again Jill! Long time no talk! Thanks again for attending our lunch yesterday. #qbochat.
  72. @QBOchat Hi all! Alan here, I’m down with a cold today, but wanted to check in and say hello! Hope you’re enjoying the RB takeover! #qbochat
  73. @receipts_bora Yes – I find myself asking “Would Sally like this feature ?” Haha the sad life of a marketer ! #QBOChat
  74. A3: We provide different products for different customer groups #qbochat
  75. Q4: Accountants are now selling our services and the Apps we use. What are some ways we can get buy-in on both? #QBOchat https://t.co/q7nT67qLL4

Q4: Accountants are now selling our services and the Apps we use. What are some ways we can get buy-in on both? #QBOchat pic.twitter.com/q7nT67qLL4
  76. now you got me wondering what ‘persona’ has been given to me… lol
  77. @QBOchat With the firms, I have been working w/ this has been a trend b/c sometimes it is hard 2 be a salesperson as an accountant! #qbochat
  78. A4: I try to demonstrate the app., either in person or by linking to the maker’s Youtube videos #qbochat
  79. A3 It’s important to note that personas change depending on the industry #qbochat
  80. @racbookkeeper And, wonder how many Apps have us categorized into different personas…. #QBOchat
  81. A4: In a prior chat, someone said the Apps are the tools of your trade. Make them a fixed part of the packaged offer. #qbochat
  82. It is important they understand how it benefits them. So take the client out, take a pic of the receipt, and trash it! @ReceiptBank #qbochat
  83. A4 I explain to the potential how we as professionals team with accountants like a doctor teams with a nurse #qbochat
  84. A4: I don’t think the Apps I use should matter a ton when it comes to customers. #QBOchat
  85. A4: They should just get a happy and peaceful feeling working with me. The Apps are my tools to help deliver that. #QBOchat
  86. @avalara @QBOchat So sorry you are sick today Alan!! Sounds like it’s going around everywhere!! Rest up & feel better! #qbochat
  87. A4. Share the workflow and why it benefits the client especially if they are the ones that need to use it! #qbochat
  88. A4 doc/nurse look after your physical health bkpr/acct look after your financial health
  89. A.4 – When the app benefits both parties it’s a win win, saves everyone time and money #QBOchat
  90. @QBOchat A4: Our strategy is to use our position as experts to decide what tech stack our clients use because it is best for that industry. #qbochat
  91. Right. @CathyIconis – It’s just part of how you get your job done. You wouldn’t tell the dentist what to use to fill your tooth. #qbochat
  92. @receipts_bora @ReceiptBank You should definitely present something from their point of view, not what the accountant has to do. #QBOchat
  93. A4: Focus on benefits and outcomes, not the tech or service itself – those are just how we get there. Focus on where “there” is. #qbochat
  94. @CathyIconis So true. If I can provide a phenomenal experience for them, my tech shouldn’t matter. #qbochat
  95. A4: I take my clients’ pain points and match it to the end result of the app to solve problems and create improved efficiency. #QBOchat
  96. A4: Presenting the tech as one package built into the specific service you’re offering your clients. #QBOchat
  97. @AmyWalkerCPA The only difference I have is when the client is using an App for their systems and I have to figure it out for accounting. #QBOchat
  98. @JillShalett Excellent method. We find that clients appreciate when they’re shown the end game of a process that relates to them #qbochat
  99. Love it! RT@CathyIconis They should just get a happy & peaceful feeling working with me. The Apps are my tools to help deliver that #qbochat
  100. A4: Clearly explain what’s in it for the client, if possible. #qbochat
  101. @CathyIconis @AmyWalkerCPA – For some apps, the client uses them directly so they stay out of QB but still need help picking them #qbochat
  102. @getclockshark Think of how many accountants out there only speak to the tech – probably because we are used to the mechanics of everything. #QBOchat
  103. I gotta run. It was great chatting with y’all this week! Have a good weekend! #qbochat
  104. Q5: What are some examples of different types of clients/personas and how we should market towards them? #QBOchat https://t.co/pzffs96Rwb

Q5: What are some examples of different types of clients/personas and how we should market towards them? #QBOchat pic.twitter.com/pzffs96Rwb
  105. @CathyIconis even the basics are new to some people – so we keep saying the same thing over and over, right? 🙂 #qbochat
  106. A5: The Geek is the easy one. They love the app world! Show them, then let them try it out #qbochat
  107. @AmyWalkerCPA Have a great week/weekend. Great following along with you on this #qbochat
  108. A5. “Numbers Ned.” They love the numbers. How can we provide accurate real time numbers they can make crucial decisions off of. #qbochat
  109. A5: Paper-frustrated Pete loves @ReceiptBank Just take picture, toss silly piece of paper. #qbochat
  110. the technophobe is… intersting… but easy overcome, explain it in the simplest of terms and show them the simplicity #qbochat
  111. Well said. RT @LayngAndLayng: A5: The Geek is the easy one. They love the app world! Show them, then let them try it out #qbochat
  112. Did you all see that you can now add apps for clients and firm within QBOA? Apps tab launched yesterday. #qbochat
  113. Here is my attempt at trying to show clients how we use @billcom and how easy it is for them. #QBOchat  http://bit.ly/2xydv2k
  114. @LayngAndLayng I tell them to still store the docs… never know when you will get an old fashioned stodgie CRA auditor #qbochat
  115. @LayngAndLayng I just laughed out loud in the office! Will have to see if @ReceiptBank can work that into marketing LOL #QBOchat
  116. @getclockshark Probably why my post on bank feed issues is so popular. It is basic, but everyone starts with those issues. #QBOchat
  117. A5: We also have a “Technology Taylor”. They’re always on their phone and love working on the newest tech. #QBOchat
  118. @receipts_alicia @LayngAndLayng @ReceiptBank Are you explaining to all your office mates how they are missing out on #QBOchat?
  119. @receipts_alicia Talking on the phone or using Apps on their phones? #QBOchat (I hate talking on the phone)
  120. A5: Reluctant Larry. This client doesn’t seem excited about the app, but could easily benefit from it #qbochat
  121. I was planning on doing marketing planning tomorrow, maybe I need to create some personas! #QBOchat
  122. A6: Price, “it’s too much bother”, “Why do you need THAT information?”, data security – online breaches and foreign storage issues #qbochat
  123. @LayngAndLayng I think price often comes down to not being able to convey the value to the client! #qbochat
  124. A6. My clients aren’t tech savvy – I’m not tech saavy. #qbochat
  125. A6. Let’s be honest – an app these days has become pretty easy. #qbochat
  126. @receipts_bora If they won’t use the apps, then the price goes up – trying to drive away those who want to waste my time #qbochat
  127. A6 I forget to use it, so why do you keep on me about it #qbochat
  128. How many Apps here would train our clients for us? I feel like you guys are better experts than us. #QBOchat
  129. It’s the way to go! RT @CathyIconis: I was planning on doing marketing planning tomorrow, maybe I need to create some personas! #QBOchat
  130. @CathyIconis We certainly do – we loving showing people how to use ClockShark #qbochat
  131. @LayngAndLayng @receipts_bora Exactly! There is a cost to wanting special treatment that takes you away from what you know best! #qbochat
  132. A.6 “But we’ve always done it this way” – some people are allergic to change #qbochat
  133. A6: cost, not tech savvy, not fully understanding the weight of reviews and social media. Leads generated aren’t good, etc… #qbochat
  134. @AutoEntry_OCREX the brain craves stability – we all fear change at some level, but yea some people are experts at fearing change #qbochat
  135. @AutoEntry_OCREX Like the clients that manually enter in a credit bill as a single bill? #QBOchat
  136. A3: I like to tell clients and prospects that it doesn’t cost to have a good accountant. It pays. #qbochat
  137. @LayngAndLayng @CathyIconis @AutoEntry_OCREX the hard part is when that is how they we’re taught to do things in school way back #qbochat
  138. @bdaccounting Can I use that line, “It doesn’t cost to have a good accountant, it pays”? #qbochat
  139. A7: people don’t object to sharks. 🙂 Address each part one at a time until there is nothing left – of you find it’s valid #qbochat
  140. A7: One strategy is to have them try it out a few times, while we’re together. Often that works #qbochat
  141. A7 you need to know where the objection is coming from/rooted in #qbochat
  142. A7: They hired you as the experts, so you know the best tech for their needs. #QBOchat
  143. A7: Review your conversations with the client about your tech. You don’t want to overcomplicate something simple #qbochat
  144. A7 and subsequently dismantle it piece by piece… logically
  145. A7: To overcome objections, it is best practice to do a value proposition! #qbochat
  146. @racbookkeeper Absolutely! One thing that is always good to remember is ask “Why?”to get to the root #QBOchat
  147. RT @tsheets A7: To overcome objections, it is best practice to do a value proposition! #qbochat
  148. Just a few minutes left for this week’s #QBOchat. What is your favorite take away?
  149. A7. You know your client best -> value prop + identifying the benefit 4 the correct persona = client seeing the value of your rec #qbochat
  150. “It doesn’t cost to have a good accountant, it pays” – that should be an ad campaign #qbochat
  151. A7: “I can’t be taking pictures all of the time” me: “You’re a <expletive> professional photographer, and you can’t take a snap?” #qbochat
  152. @QBOchat Thanks for having me today! It was a fun and informative chat #qbochat
  153. @LayngAndLayng it would take way to long to set up the right lighting to capture the true essence of that receipt 🙂 #qbochat
  154. A6 I always demo how the app can help their small business save money – increase revenue! save time!!! #qbochat
  155. That’s it for this week’s #QBOChat, thanks for taking the time to tweet with us!
  156. Between calls and mini-fires…I didn’t fully engage in #qbochat like I wanted. But there’s always next week.

QBOchat Admin

#QBOchat began in July 2013 with the simple idea to host a weekly Twitter conversation around QuickBooks Online (QBO). We have since grown into a very strong community comprised of a diverse group of users. Our weekly tweet chat is held each Thursday at 3:00PM Eastern. The discussions cover a wide range of topics including QBO’s latest features and updates, business operation tips and apps that integrate with QBO, to name just a few.
