13. The first question is right around the corner, when answering start with A1, A2, etc. #QBOchat
14. Welcome Paige! RT @paigenow Paige, product manager for Payments at Intuit #QBOchat
15. YES! RT @CathyIconis I’m confused about all of @QBOnline‘s and @Intuit‘s payment solutions. Anyone else? #qbochat
16. @CathyIconis It’s not bad, I just didn’t know it, and was always calling the wrong one #qbochat
17. @KeepingBooksCC haha! I don’t know how to help my clients when they have issues b/c they are different logins #qbochat
18. Welcome! RT @paigenow Paige, product manager for Payments at Intuit #QBOchat
19. I also wanted them in both QBO and desktop, but at least at the time was not successful #qbochat
20. @KeepingBooksCC How do you mean? Use them in both and you can’t/couldn’t? #qbochat
21. Anymore of the @QBOnline team out there in the twitterverse lurking? #qbochat
22. Yes why are the logins different? RT @CathyIconis @KeepingBooksCC haha! I don’t know how to help … different logins #qbochat
23. Q1: What different payment solutions have you used with @QBOnline? #QBOchat
24. A1. I love IPN! RT @IconisGroup Q1: What different payment solutions have you used with @QBOnline? #QBOchat
25. If I can’t figure out which I am using, how can I expect my clients to do so! Anyway, Intuit has recently begun to address this #qbochat
26. A1: have used IPN and love it, but havent used it with QBO *yet* #qbochat
27. A1. Not sure about the cc system though. RT @IconisGroup Q1: What different payment solutions have you used with @QBOnline? #QBOchat
28. ME TOO! RT @CathyIconis A1. I love IPN! RT @IconisGroup Q1: What different payment solutions have you used with @QBOnline? #QBOchat #qbochat
29. @CathyIconis Yes, and I still do, because I think it helps me stay sharp in both #qbochat
30. Currently, there are two automated solutions – QuickBooks Merchant Services (QBMS) and Intuit Payment Network (IPN). #QBOchat
31. Cool -> @paigenow Yep, we are combining QBMS and IPN under one roof, QBO first! #qbochat
32. @CathyIconis Haha, others have been less kind about this practice of mine 🙂 #qbochat
33. 🙂 RT @CathyIconis Cool -> @paigenow Yep, we are combining QBMS and IPN under one roof, QBO first! #qbochat
34. The fee to accept an ACH payment through IPN is just 50 cents. #QBOchat
35. @SherrellTMartin Do you have issues with the numbers coming in net or do they come into QBO gross? #qbochat
36. So if QBMS and IPN are getting together in QuickBooks Online, what is it going to be called? #qbochat
37. RT @IconisGroup The fee to accept an ACH payment through IPN is just 50 cents. #QBOchat
38. Paypal is really annoying with pulling in sales at the net amount. RT @KeepingBooksCC I have used PayPal a few times too. #qbochat
39. You can process payments with the QuickBooks Mobile and GoPayment apps. Perfect for @QBOnline users. #QBOchat
40. @CathyIconis They come in net but it’s not an issue. Well after the 1st one. I have the settings sending the fee to cc fees exp. #qbochat
41. RT @IconisGroup You can process payments with the QuickBooks Mobile and GoPayment apps. Perfect for @QBOnline users. #QBOchat
42. @CathyIconis I think the @square fees may be slightly better, but no monthly fee #qbochat
43. I haven’t even really used GoPayment, but I have a few swipers available for anyone that wants them! #qbochat
44. Exactly! And ACH only fpr pymts < $2K RT @taxgrl @SherrellTMartin I love @square too, use them for my CC payments, IPN for ACH #qbochat
45. Who pays a monthly fee for IPN or Merchant Services? Not me! #qbochat
46. @CathyIconis square sent us a box of 50 readers, so we gave them out for Halloween last year 🙂 #qbochat
47. Use your free GoPayment swiper! Don’t have one? Go here ow.ly/p296c #QBOchat
48. All of the those devices are pretty much the same RT @CathyIconis @taxgrl How do the @square fees compare to @qbonline currently? #qbochat
49. RT @taxgrl @CathyIconis square sent us a box of 50 readers, so we gave them out for Halloween last year 🙂 #qbochat
50. I always think about taking around a bag of swipers to a craft fair or food truck park with my card, but I would need more! #qbochat
51. I love this! ->RT @taxgrl @CathyIconis square sent us a box of 50 readers, so we gave them out for Halloween last year 🙂 #qbochat
52. how you do that? RT @KeepingBooksCC Who pays a monthly fee for IPN or Merchant Services? Not me! #qbochat
53. That is awesome! RT @taxgrl @CathyIconis square sent us a box of 50 readers, so we gave them out for Halloween last year 🙂 #qbochat
54. @CathyIconis actually just checked, gopayment now has a no-monthly-fee option, same rate as @square #qbochat
55. Q2: What receivable process do you usually recommend to clients? What is the workflow? #QBOchat
56. OK – I’m going to have to talk to @Intuit about getting #qbochat users a bunch of swipers sent to us.
57. AWESOME RT @taxgrl @CathyIconis square sent us a box of 50 readers, so we gave them out for Halloween last year 🙂 #qbochat
58. A2 I can’t say it is ever the same way twice, it depends 🙂 #qbochat
59. Awesome, Paige! You just need to sign in with your twitter account so we can retweet you!!! #qbochat
60. woot woot RT @CathyIconis OK – I’m going to have to talk to @Intuit about getting #qbochat users a bunch of swipers sent to us.
61. Suggested flow: Invoice > Receive Payment > Match Downloaded Deposit #QBOchat
62. A2. Our service based clients mostly invoice and I suggest IPN to get payments on there. #qbochat
63. RT @IconisGroup Suggested flow: Invoice > Receive Payment > Match Downloaded Deposit #QBOchat
64. Oh I need to investigate. I pay the IPN fee RT@KeepingBooksCC @SherrellTMartin It is included in the ProAdvisor membership #qbochat
65. RT @IconisGroup Suggested flow: Invoice -> Receive Payment -> Match Downloaded Deposit #QBOchat
66. A2. Clients that get money on the spot, I tell them to just record via Receive Payment. #qbochat
67. A2. I recommend IPN over credit card to service-based clients because their invoices are usually high dollar. #qbochat
68. A2. But I tell clients that you have to think about your customer’s buying behavior. Will they buy more if you accept cc’s? #qbochat
69. Enable online payment from the invoice screen of @QBOnline to get paid faster via ACH or card– your choice! #QBOchat
70. I only do that when a company needs an “invoice” RT @paigenow How often do you receive a payment and create the invoice after? #QBOchat
71. RT @IconisGroup Enable online payment from the invoice screen of @QBOnline to get paid faster via ACH or card– your choice! #qbochat
72. So, in the current IPN system, can you accept by CC too? #qbochat
73. @paigenow I’m trying to teach my clients that they don’t need to do this. #qbochat
74. Sometimes I even just code a deposit to the revenue number, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t show up as a customer “sale” #qbochat
75. If you receive payment directly for a sale, skip the invoice and use “Sales Receipt”. #QBOchat
76. Not too often. I send electronically RT @paigenow How often do you receive a payment and create the invoice after the fact? #qbochat
77. RT @paigenow With IPN today, you can enable credit cards from settings, but the default is ACH #qbochat
78. RT @paigenow With IPN today, you can enable credit cards from settings, but the default is ACH #qbochat
79. I find that many payers are reluctant to use ACH, because they are concerned about security and liability of providing bank acct #qbochat
80. @paigenow With that, does the end-customer code in the cc number? #qbochat
81. RT @IconisGroup Suggested flow: Invoice > Receive Payment > Match Downloaded Deposit #QBOchat #qbochat
82. That’s valid RT @SherrellTMartin Better late than never RT @davidleary Finally here, had some WiFi problems. #TheresNoEarlyInLeary #qbochat
83. A2: @IconisGroup Create and send invoice. Send electronically if they can. Receive pymt electronically. #GetPaidFaster #qbochat
84. Use the recurring transactions list to setup automatic invoices and sales receipts in @QBOnline #QBOchat
85. RT A2. But I tell clients that you have to think about your customer’s buying behavior. Will they buy more if you accept cc’s? #qbochat
86. RT @paigenow @cathyiconis yep. IPN is always the end customer entering in the pmt (cc or ACH) QBMS is the qb user entering it. #qbochat
87. Q3: What are your biggest struggles in @QBOnline with getting paid and recording it properly? #QBOchat
88. Anyone have clients accepting payments by mobile phones yet? E.g. @Google wallet #qbochat

91. nope RT @davidleary Anyone have clients accepting payments by mobile phones yet? E.g. @Google wallet #qbochat

126. @KeepingBooksCC Well, it’ll be several months for the dirty south to see fall. #qbochat
127. @CathyIconis Recipient of funds pays IPN fee, not payer – just like a merchant account. #qbochat

138. When do you guys start charging people finance fees? And how do you calculate it? #qbochat
139. Matching up payments to deposits is my biggest struggle with clients right now. #qbochat
140. @CathyIconis #qbochat I think for a short time Intuit waived the 50 cent IPN fee for ProAdvisors to try to get them signed up. It was nice!
141. I hate having an ugly AR Aging or sending out statements to clients that have paid but it isn’t showing up. #qbochat

#QBOchat began in July 2013 with the simple idea to host a weekly Twitter conversation around QuickBooks Online (QBO). We have since grown into a very strong community comprised of a diverse group of users. Our weekly tweet chat is held each Thursday at 3:00PM Eastern. The discussions cover a wide range of topics including QBO’s latest features and updates, business operation tips and apps that integrate with QBO, to name just a few.
