What do you enjoy most about participating in #QBOchat each week?

I enjoy learning from all the professionals that gather every week for our 1 hr #QBOChat Sessions. I believe that a true inspirer learns from their clients and their peers; this relationship is definitely not one-sided and all relationships should have some level of learning from one another even if we’re the advisor. I get to this every week by socializing with my peers, vendors, and app companies that help make QB such a dynamic tool.

How did you find out about #QBOchat?

I attended a QB Connect Event in the Atlanta area in 2015/2016, and met Cathy Iconis there; connected with her online.

What do you do?

I work with professionals in the Real Estate, Investor, and Construction Space. I teach my clients how to forecast for future shortfalls and plan for the future by using proven processes while implementing innovative accounting, business planning, and cash flow strategies. For my non-niche clients as well as DIY clients I have a coaching series that I offer to help them with financial planning, business planning, and bookkeeping essentials.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients?

Helping clients pull money out of hat tricks 🧐 (lol), and legally of course 🧐☺. I am very skillful and resourceful, I’ve been through a lot of shortfalls and blessings. So I’ve learned to use my past experiences with the research of new tactics to create strategic plans for my clients to increase their cash flow and expand exponentially. The biggest problem I find that most business owners lack is having efficient workflows in place and policies to help finetune those processes to increase productivity and cash flow, while lowering their fraud instances.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

I believe my passion derives from my past experiences of starting a business from scratch and literally not knowing where to start and how I was going to finetune my processes and grow my business. One thing about Business School is that it can teach you all of the book work, but it does not teach you experience. Experience is something you have to go through, and honestly if you haven’t been through the struggles of owning a business and getting it up off the ground; then how can you teach someone to implement processes, workflows, and put financial systems into place to help them grow their business. Sure you can follow the books and what your professors tell you the book says to do, but EXPERIENCE is where the real fine tuning stems from and this is why I am passionate about helping other businesses and their owners to grow and succeed at their passion.

What topics interest you that you connect with others about?

OMG! I am a big #TGIT avid TV watcher and for those of you who don’t know what that is, tune into ABC at 8pm on Thursday nights lol. Family and traveling are of the utmost importance to me. I want to see the world and want my family to enjoy it with me.

My Children are important to me so I always take time out to indulge myself in what means the most to them whether it’s sports, tv, etc.

I care a great deal about my clients as well, I want to see everyone achieve success and I go out of my way to make sure that my clients, counterparts, contractors, and employees are treated equally with everything they need to succeed at their fingertips.

What topic would you like to see in a future #QBOchat?

What are some of the struggles that you gone through; when starting your business and what did you do to progress towards the success that you’re achieving today? What processes did you implement and the pros and cons of implementing those processes. For those who perform “Tax Compliance Work”, such as tax preparation, audits, etc; what software and programs do you currently use? I would like to see and hear what has been a success for you when it came to procedures, processing, apps/software and workflow in the tax space.

Anything else you’d like us to know?

I also have a program where I offer Business Coaching, as well as a company where I train and coach new tax preparers and accountants to become successful. My coaching business is “Coached by Portia”, and my Mentorship Company is “Tax Office Solutions”. I am always striving to help others, and I look forward to working with some of you all in the near future. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me (open book) laughs.

#QBOchat began in July 2013 with the simple idea to host a weekly Twitter conversation around QuickBooks Online (QBO). We have since grown into a very strong community comprised of a diverse group of users. Our weekly tweet chat is held each Thursday at 3:00PM Eastern. The discussions cover a wide range of topics including QBO’s latest features and updates, business operation tips and apps that integrate with QBO, to name just a few.
