QBOchat Interviews Freedom Merchants About Payroll Solutions & QuickBooks Integration
What is your App’s name, what do you do, & when did you get published on Intuit’s Apps.com?
Freedom Merchants. We published in Sept-2016!
We are the only App that enables Credit-Card Surcharging that’s now allowable in 44 States – the newest ones being New York, California, Florida and Texas!
What was the main problem you were trying to solve when you first developed Freedom Merchants?
We thought that all QBO (and QBD) customers needed a MUCH better way to do ALL of their Payment-processing without having to use so many different Merchant-Providers. Websites, E-commerce, AND Invoicing. We also saw an incredible lack of “Bells and Whistles” in the functionality of QB Payments for things like Surcharging, customized Payment Pages, intelligent Auto-billing setups, etc.
What companies (or users) are the best fit for Freedom Merchants?
Any and all QBO users who need to get Paid by their clients/customers (Invoicing, E-com, Membership, etc). In the Canadian market we also have some very unique solutions too.
Tell us about your users’ top 3 favorite features or benefits of Freedom Merchants.
The ability to do Surcharging, the ability to have a Brand-friendly Checkout Page that they can ATTACH to their websites, the ability to have way more Options than QB Payments allows for everything.
Tell us about your company’s culture and leadership.
We have an incredibly friendly, responsive, engaging culture. We get our best ideas from our own customers! We have a flat organization where New Product Development is done in days and weeks, not months and years. I am the CEO and Founder of the company (which has been around for 14 years), but we have an excellent team who cares about our customers’ success.
How is Freedom Merchants different from your competitors?
There is literally no other App in the Payment-Processing sub-category that allows QBO users to do even a fraction of what our App does. We make things easy, fast, and at an incredibly affordable cost. In fact, our ENTIRE SUITE of Bells and Whistles is at a lower-cost-of-Processing than actually any other integrated App and even QB Payments. But I would say that “speed and flexibility” are the main differentiators for us.
What is the pricing for Freedom Merchants?
There’s ZERO cost to connect anyone’s QBO to our system besides just the cost of the Merchant-account, which includes a fixed Monthly-fee of $25/month and the Variable costs of processing which range from 1.95% to 3.20% and $0.22 per transaction. Until September 30th we are waiving our normal Setup fee of $150 but will likely reinstate it on Sept-30th.
Does Freedom Merchants have any programs for Quickbooks ProAdvisors?
Yes. Every single QB Pro Advisor gets 1 account for their use or their 1st client with the Setup fee fully waived. We also have a Revenue-share program for Pro Advisors that bring us in to multiple clients of theirs that we think is actually quite generous! I will say though that CURRENTLY, most of our customers have come to us directly. They see what we have and just call us and get setup. We are actively building out our Pro Advisor channel and were thrilled to Sponsor the Scaling New Heights 2018 conference and look forward to seeing more Advisors at conferences all over North America.
