What do you enjoy most about participating in #QBOchat each week?

Interacting with peers meeting new people, and learning new things!

What do you do?

I’m an Advanced Certified QBDT/QBO ProAdvisor and NACPB-Certified Bookkeeper providing training and support services to very small businesses – most of which cannot afford a full-time bookkeeper.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients?

If I had to choose one item, I would have to say that I provide independent oversight and an extra set of “eyes” to ask those questions that they may not have even considered on items they may have overlooked (such as any abnormal amounts spent or received that doesn’t make sense). I also provide advice on Internal Controls – VERY important for very small businesses to be aware of, because they are often too trusting of others, especially if they have family and/or friends helping them in their business. I’m also becoming the go-to person for file check-ups (to diagnose the overall “health” of clients’ QB files. And I also provide Bookkeeping Basics training (which includes some exposure to entering the most common transactions in QB) which I believe EVERYONE using QBDT/ QBO needs to know if they are going to keep their own books.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

My personal mission is “Helping others achieve their full potential” so whatever I do needs to fall in line with that mission statement, or I am wasting my time! Having said that, I believe in giving back to the community in ways to strengthen and improve it “one person at a time,” and I do this through mentoring other bookkeepers, volunteering in the community, and participating in job seeker and bookkeeping/accounting forums offering my advice and providing helpful information. I also help job seekers through my association with Sweetwater Mission. (They use the Crossroads Career Network curriculums and materials.) My greatest achievement is the creation of the Cobb Career Site, my PERSONAL Facebook page designed to be a “One-Stop Career Resource” which I started in 1998 as a simple web page but moved to Facebook approx. 5-6 years ago.

What topics interest you that you connect with others about?

When I am not working (and I am fortunately blessed to be doing what I truly LOVE!), I love traveling and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy meeting new people and am really excited to meet folks in person at various conferences where I had only “seen” them in Facebook groups, on LinkedIn, and Twitter. I was fortunate to attend Scaling New Heights for the first time this summer and am looking forward to attending QB Connect for the first time in November!

Anything else you’d like us to know?

I cannot think of anything specifically, but I do want to say THANK YOU for allowing me the opportunity to be featured – it is truly an honor and pleasure! 🙂

Author: QBOchat Admin

#QBOchat began in July 2013 with the simple idea to host a weekly Twitter conversation around QuickBooks Online (QBO). We have since grown into a very strong community comprised of a diverse group of users. Our weekly tweet chat is held each Thursday at 3:00PM Eastern. The discussions cover a wide range of topics including QBO’s latest features and updates, business operation tips and apps that integrate with QBO, to name just a few.
