QuickBooks Online Accountant Training

Let’s talk about all the QuickBooks Online accountant training resources out there. You’ll find a ton of free resources out there, which are great for those starting out and wanting to keep updated on the product changes. But, you’ll also find a ton of training resources to help you become a master in QuickBooks Online and bookkeeping.

Why Is Continuous Training Important?

QuickBooks Online Accountant Training Resources As a CPA, I’m required to get 40 hours of continuing education every year and I’m so glad that is a requirement. I think it is so important for everyone in a specialized industry, like accounting, to have continuing education to keep updated on industry changes and gain more specialized knowledge in different areas around accounting and bookkeeping.

So, why is training so important? Our industry is ever-changing. For example, QuickBooks Online makes updates and releases to their product MONTHLY! Then, add to that all the changes and additions that are being made to the App world.

The technical training is just one part. If you are running your own bookkeeping practice like me, then you are always on the hunt on how to run your practice better, manage clients better, build a marketing plan, and just best practices on how to deliver your services to maintain a profit and living!

Free QuickBooks Online Accountant Training Resources

If you do a search online, you are going to find a million resources out there for accountants, which can be overwhelming, to say the least. Let’s start with some great free resources that will help you get a basic understanding of QuickBooks Online.

Join Intuit’s ProAdvisor program. It is free to you as an accountant that utilizes QuickBooks Online. (You have to pay if you want to get desktop or enterprise software, obviously.)

Specialized QuickBooks Online Accountant Training

Once you’ve gone through all the free resources, then it’s time to get a deeper knowledge to help you be the best you can be. This is the sort of training that I’ve really tried to focus on here on QBOchat. When you invest in your training (yes, actually pay for it) you are going to get a whole new level of support and training. This is where you can become a master in the industry. Maybe that is why my month-long courses are called “Master Courses”? It’s all about mastering your knowledge of QuickBooks Online and running a bookkeeping practice.

Introduction to QuickBooks Online for Accountants Course

Let’s start at the beginning. If you want to grow a practice using QuickBooks Online, then you should definitely get certified with Intuit, but there is more than you might like to learn. In my Introduction to QBO for Bookkeepers course, I really focus on how to use QuickBooks Online in a practice. We talk about what services you can provide in practice, how to deliver on these, how to efficiently get around QuickBooks Online, and more.

Intermediate QuickBooks Online for Accountants Courses

Next, you want to look for resources that will help you become both more effective and efficient in your bookkeeping practice. Our goal as bookkeepers and accountants should be to provide the best quality work for our clients while still making a living for ourselves. That can be a hard balance, but if you learn how to systemize your practice, then it is completely attainable.

I offer two master courses currently that help you with systemizing different areas of your practice. First, I have the Month End Master Course. This course walks you through how to streamline your month-end practice as a QuickBooks Online Accountant. You can read here why it is important to have a month end process in your firm, but let’s just say, you NEED to be doing this to ensure you are providing the best quality work to your clients.

My second course is the Cleanup Master Course. If you’ve been in practice for any period of time, you understand how hard it is to manage a cleanup engagement. The other concern is how to make it a profitable engagement. I’ve been known to take a loss on several cleanup engagements, so that is why I created this course to help others streamline the process and still make a profit.

In addition to these master courses, I offer several on-demand and webinars to help you gain specialized knowledge in different aspects of running a virtual bookkeeping practice.

Are You Ready To Get Your Training On?

In short, I encourage you to challenge yourself to get several hours of training in your field each year. As I said, CPAs are required to get at least 40 hours each year. What standard in continuing training are you going to hold yourself to? Training is the only way we can improve and grow. I’d love to hear what you think of all these resources. Do you have any favorites? Do you have anything to add? Leave your comments below.

As an accountant I have the 5 for 5. I have extended my activation period. I have two questions.

    1. If the person who agrees to be a QBO customer under this arrangement, can they drop the service at any time without further charge to me (or them)?

    2. If the person who agrees to be a QBO customer under this arrangement for this license (QuickBooks Online Plus) decides at the end of two years of favorable pricing they only need a less expensive package, then can that license be changed to the less expensive package?

    Thanks for your help.

      Wayne,
I don’t have any experience with the 5 for 5 program. I suggest you reach out to ProAdvisor support. Remember, QBOchat is not affiliated with Intuit.
      Thanks!
